Thus, hiking boots were born. Originally conceived only as footwear for hiking in the mountains, they have gradually become an indispensable everyday wardrobe item.

Although the history of hiking footwear is relatively recent, it is, unfortunately, impossible to say precisely when the first hiking boots were created. However, as early as 1925, Austrian shoe designer Anton Lintner opened a workshop and started selling these shoes.

GIAMPIERONICOLAInitially, this type of shoe was made with a flat leather sole with steel shanks. Later, they were replaced by shoes with rough soles with deep lugs. Vibram was one of the first companies to produce such soles. This is why this sole is considered the benchmark for mountain shoes. There is probably no doubt that sneakers are the most comfortable footwear for everyday use. The first sports shoes appeared in 1876, made by the New Liverpool Rubber Company in England. Once they appeared, they were often referred to as ‘beach shoes’ or ‘plimsolls’ (because of the plimsoll line, where the hull of a fully loaded ship is flush with the water's surface).
