AUTUMN/WINTER 21 | Footwear trends by Dolita

What does “Made in Italy” mean when it comes to footwear? This ambiguous phrase reveals much more than just impeccable Italian quality. Today, it also means the country’s identity, history, or even emotion. “Made in Italy“ is not just a sign on leather. It’s a philosophy followed by craftsmen and designers.

This two-word duo is the engine that encourages you to get to know the latest autumn/winter collections, the new brands at DOLITA, and the brightest trends of the season. This season, the creativity of designers is crossing all limits. We can’t remember another autumn season when shoe shapes were presented so ingeniously that you instantly wanted to get on the dance floor once you put them on! Plus, we’ve now gotten even more diverse artists in the fashion field who use unexpected combinations of colors and materials and give shoes a whole different character.

In this autumn/winter 21-22 trend guide by DOLITA, we’ll cover these important topics:

– Pantone’s colors of the season: sand and cream, a different kind of black, stylish green, boundless blue, burnt brick, purple and violet, and a different kind of grey;
– The future and its heroes! Sneakers;
– Love for combat boots;
– Chelsea boots;
– Moccasin shapes;
– A leather-rubber dialogue;
– Attention! Over-the-knee boots are taking to the streets;
– A puff jacket or footwear?;
– Fur! From sandals to…

Sand and cream

Sometimes, checking out a new collection and choosing the best picks for your clients is the same as flipping through an art album where each piece speaks about the modern day but presents it in a unique and subtle way.

Halmanera

Sand and cream footwear should absolutely be on your wishlist or must-have list this season. When the shape is perfect, the shoes need to be as refined as possible. We believe that purity and cleanliness is a unique feature and also the cornerstone for all collections. The creative process is dictated by the search for these features, completeness, and rejection of what is not necessary. The color itself dictates the shape and whole mood of your outfit.

3JUIN

Female fashion designers have historically received tremendous industry support and more freedom for self-expression when designing for a customer who wants to wear clothing that matches the pace of her life. The three sisters, who are designers at 3JUIN, have been raising the idea of feminism for many seasons now and are publicly declaring this in their work. Their collection is filled with patent leather, rubber, and vinyl.

Vic Matie designer Silvia Curzi also uses a cream color in her autumn/winter collection. This makes massive shapes look softer, lighter, and more feminine.

NEW IN AT DOLITA – Vittorio Virgilli, made in the Marche region of Italy. "Since 1964, we’ve been creating elegant handmade shoes made from the finest materials. We are Italian and very proud of it” say representatives of the brand.
Italian style, the finest materials, and, above all, the old traditions of Italian mastery. A brand that reflects the finest style of Italian footwear combined with experience, attention to detail, and quality that only top-class craftsmanship can provide.

In the Vittorio Virgilli collection, all models look like a beige painting from top to bottom. Ascetic minimalism, scrupulously chosen leather, mathematically calculated length, perfect proportions, and impeccable comfort.

The creative freedom given to designers means that they can interpret the DNA of their brands however they’d like. The harmony of youth, experience, and critical thinking allows them to understand what is truly relevant today. They monitor social media and the people of the world’s biggest cities. Also, unlike the older generation of designers, they can tell exactly what people want to buy at stores and what they don’t.

This season, black is different: it’s more refined, more eloquent, and more modern. Black leather details and exclusive leather can change the whole look of the shoe. Whether it’s elegant high heels, equestrian-style boots, combat boots, or modern ankle boots, black always wins.

Stylish green

Olives and olive groves… So Italian! This season, green is super popular in women’s shoes.

Although the color green is associated with nature and renewal, its pigments have been among the most poisonous in history. In 1775, Swedish chemist Karl Wilhelm Scheele invented the deadly shade Scheele’s Green, which was a bright green pigment containing the toxic chemical arsenic. Scheele’s Green was later replaced by Paris Green, which contained a mixture of copper and arsenic and allowed Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir to create their bright emerald landscapes. Not surprisingly, though, these paints were banned in 1960.

Green has always prevailed everywhere: from ancient times to Fauvists, in modernist paintings, Bauhaus objects and interiors, recession-era building facades, and, of course, fashion.

The Premiata collection is dominated by olive green in both aged suede and technical nylon.

Premiata

In Michel Pastoureau's books on the colors blue and black, the author presents an impressive history of the color green in European societies from prehistoric times to the present day. When examining the changing role of the color green in art, clothing, literature, religion, science, and everyday life, Michel Pastoureau describes how culture has dramatically changed the perception and meaning of colors over millennia and how we’ve misunderstood the history of culture, society, and art history by assuming that colors have always had the same meaning that they do today.

New in at Dolita – Camerlengo. The brand was named after Giuseppe Camerlengo, an Italian footwear designer and brand founder back in 1975.
It’s a classic Italian brand because the whole family works there and they only use the highest-quality Italian leather.

Designers, shoemakers with extensive experience, family traditions, a great sense of art - all of this is synchronized into a single whole, the result of which is Camerlengo shoes of impeccable quality for him and her. Made in Italy’s Marche region.

Olive green dictates shoe shapes accordingly and there are lots of massive combat boots this season, as well as shoes with natural fur and leather on the inside.

Boundless blue

Fashion and art have never been limited to just one tone. The word “blue” can refer to hundreds of different shades, allowing creators to come up with beautiful pieces of art. A single color but hundreds of tones. We’ve got neoplasticist Piet Mondrian’s deep blue, Le Corbusier’s sky blue, avant-garde blue, denim blue, and even king of Rock n Roll Elvis Presley’s blue suede.

Decorations and shapes are inseparable from the work of Italian designers. Sometimes, just a few blue details are enough to make the shoes look like they’re “painted” in blue.

Italian brand Premiata has got lots to say: more than 100 years of experience producing handmade footwear, the newest technologies and design innovations – all of this combined easily makes them luxury footwear manufacturers. This is embodied in one of their most popular sneaker models "Sharky": the top of the shoe is made of many carefully combined pieces of leather, suede, and textile. The blue in the sneakers beautifully mixes with all of the other colors and tones.

Italian Moma is a master of unique leather. It’s encoded in the brand’s DNA and creators and designers pay special attention to it. There are endless vineyards in the Marche region, where Moma shoes are hand-sewn. For the people of this region, grapes, olive oil, and footwear are like the Holy Trinity. According to the manufacturers, specially aged leather symbolizes a grape’s skin.

Burnt bricks

This season, fashion critics have unanimously agreed on two things: 1 – the color brown has returned with a bang and is taking over all of the runways; 2 – the fashion world has not seen such powerful collections in a long time. Particular attention is paid to practicality and maximum comfort. One of the best examples of this is the unexpected color trend that has revived the classic beige monologue. But please remember that autumn is not ending anytime soon and a pair of classic brown shoes will be just as useful in a year as they are today.

Anna Baiguera

The terracotta boom happened back in 2017 and this season, it’s back and has already painted the shelves of the most popular shoe stores in brown.

Purple and violet

Designers always think about their customers, especially when they present bright and eye-catching colors and trends. One of the brightest colors this season is PURPLE. Women care deeply about esthetics because they carefully consider the color, shape, leather, heel height, and comfort of shoes. Esthetics are very important and provide lots of satisfaction.

7:AM

Anna Baiguera

This season’s purple is dictating a new definition and aesthetic of femininity. You’ll find purple in any type of shoes from over-the-knee boots to sneakers. Today, fashion offers endless ways of interpreting femininity and offers a plethora of alternative approaches, each of which can lead us to something we’re close to. Same goes for purple shoes - you can combine them with a classic black or gray blazer, suit, or mini disco dress. One pair of shoes for dozens of different outfits. This just shows once again that all you need to create a strong and expressive image is a pair of stylish shoes.

Eggplant, lily, iris… The selection of colors and shades is endless. From technical nylon, extra soft leather, laminated glossy leather to epoxy resin. A different kind of grey

The modern and stylish gray isn’t going anywhere this autumn/winter season. Industrialization has had a major impact on the fashion industry. Gray represents the urban jungle. Tones range from concrete to graphite to metallic. It’s often said that gray, just like white, is not a color. But let us object to this statement because it’s actually a very special color that’s dictated by leather patterns, technical fabrics, and details. The world’s most famous fashion designers don’t hide the fact that reversing certain stereotypes during the creative process is as exciting as watching their customers’ reactions to it. It may seem a bit bold to present gray as the color of the year but let us introduce the exclusive models of this season and you’ll be convinced of it.

3JUIN

Moma

Halmanera offers gray glossy shoes that resemble the rainy streets of big cities. They feature a super soft surface and iconic heel with a shade of gray ombre. Premiata is constructively playing with gray suede details by combining them with laminated leather. 3JUIN draws its inspiration from the eighties: a pointed tip, a funnel-shaped heel, and a sock-like top. Sexy, modern, and super stylish. This color is also popular in Moma, Vic Matie, and other collections. Gray is not boring - it’s like a newly-discovered black.

The future and its heroes! Sneakers

Fashion loves weird concepts, radicalism, and paraphrasing concepts and trends. Sometimes, fashion critics name new trends in a way that they would spark a wave of debate of whether they’re really related to footwear. With confidence, we can answer - absolutely. Today’s sneaker trends are being dictated by the use of new technologies, materials, innovative ideas, and inspiration from the future, the superhero of which is YOU!

To begin our review of sneakers, we’d like to introduce the newest brands at DOLITA: Iceberg, RUN OF, Fessura, Hidnander.

Iceberg is a brand that dates back to 1974. The design studio created by Silvano Gerani and Giuliana Marchini began by sewing prêt-a-porter clothes for men and women, accessories, perfume, and children’s clothing. Today, the company is run by son Paolo Gerani, who is the creative director of the brand.
Starting as one of the first pioneers of knitwear and casual wear, Iceberg managed to enchant and make its way to stars like Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Lil Flip, Lil Bill, and Mischa Barton. Lil Flip wears Iceberg clothes in many of his music videos and concerts.

Iceberg

Today, we present Dolita customers with this brand’s sports line, where leather and neoprene are masterfully and stylishly combined. Most models have a special Vibram rubber sole, which guarantees extremely good grip and resistance to friction and has particularly good thermoregulatory properties. In men's models, you’ll find the Cemented construction, where the sole is sewn on with monofilament nylon threads.

RUN OF is a brand of exclusive sneakers born in 2020 in Florence. Urban design combined with modern details: metallic leather, plastic details, and lightweight rubber soles created using special technologies. A distinctive feature of this brand is that they use technical fabrics. Harmony between extravagant and bright colors that can highlight any customer’s outfit. The brand combines Italian footwear sewing traditions with a unique, modern, and attractive design. The result is a niche product that is completely out of this time and can surprise all fashion enthusiasts. Models for men and women.

LEATHER. For most people, the term “combat boots” is associated with heavy and massive footwear. Well, allow us to disagree. Today's technologies allow designers to create extremely lightweight shoes. Polished, soft, smooth, shiny leather and a guarantee of the finest quality. Subtly combined materials: rubber and leather, leather and epoxy, leather and textile.

SOLE. This season, fashion is dominated by massive ridged soles, so don’t miss out on this type of footwear. Wearing shoes with a ridged sole will make you look original and allow you to confidently walk through the slippery winter ground. Most soles are made using lightweight rubber foam, some have cast rubber, and some models feature a durable Vibram sole. The sole is one of the most important accents in this type of footwear. It’s no secret that the most expensive components of a shoe are usually the sole and leather. If you’re wearing shoes with a thick sole in the winter, you might not even need fur to keep your foot warm.

Premiata

ACCESSORIES. How could you possibly go without them? They’re absolutely necessary! Studs, zippers, and buckles are all essential aspects of "punk shoes". The highest-quality Italian and Japanese details, shoes hand-soaked in epoxy, monofilament seams, threads and seams that combine different materials, studs reminiscent of climbing shoes, and D-shaped loops.

Also new at DOLITA – Giorgio Fabiani. The history of this brand began with the founder’s interest in craftsmanship and handmade products, which turned the brand into a manufacturer of exclusive footwear based in Fermo, which is located in the Marche region of Italy.

A focus on detail, high-quality materials, and unique design: thanks to all three of these aspects, you can now find Giorgio Fabiani products at exclusive stores all around the world, including DOLITA.

Chelsea boots

The design element that makes these shoes unique is the elastic bands on the sides, which allow the shoes to easily be put on and taken off and compress the foot so that it doesn’t move while walking.

Now let’s get to a bit of history. Although Chelsea boots have been around since the 19th century, they still remain an essential part of a modern and stylish person’s wardrobe. The timeless silhouette and minimalist design of these shoes mean that they can easily be matched with different outfits: from a classic suit to a biker jacket or dress.

In fashion, they’re referred to as English shoes - Chelsea boots date all the way back to Victorian times. They were invented in 1851 by queen Victoria’s shoemaker J. Sparkes-Hall and were worn by both men and women. The shoes were originally designed for horseback riding (because of their stability) and were later adopted by some members of the British Mod movement because they were worn by members of The Beatles in the 1960s, which eventually led to worldwide popularity.

Mattia Capezzani

The design of Chelsea boots has not changed since Victorian times. Traditionally, they consist of two parts: a leather part all around the shoe and an elastic rubber detail.

Today, the design of Chelsea boots remains the same but in terms of design, they are the BOMB! Inspired by Japanese style, punk culture, classical style, modern shapes, and more.

Investing in exceptionally high-quality Chelsea boots is a great step in shaping your autumn wardrobe. Now let us introduce another new brand at DOLITA - Green George.

Green George shoes meet 100% of the “Made in Italy” labeling standards, as well as the needs of the pickiest of buyers. Their sewing methods guarantee a high level of comfort and durability. Inspired by British elegance, Italian Green George’s style is elegant and refined. The perfect detail for a modern gentleman’s style. The purity of the shapes and the selection of materials will leave you in awe.

Green George has traditionally presented the highest levels of mastery. To this day their footwear is sewn using the Blake or Blake-Rapid construction, which increases flexibility and water resistance and provides special comfort and softness. The Stonewash technology reflects the brand's focus on new trends.

Moccasins shapes

Moccasins are, without a doubt, some of the most comfortable shoes! The newest trend of this season is boots with moccasin tips

Jaime Mascaro

Now a bit of history. Moccasins are soft suede sock-like shoes created by native Americans. They’re sewn from one or three pieces of leather. In the East, moccasins with soft soles were more common because they were suitable for walking through the forest and grass. In prairies, where there are lots of rough rocks, moccasins with hard soles prevailed. Initially, moccasins were sewn from rawhide leather but when the Europeans arrived, they brought tanned leather. For piercing, they used awls, bone needles, and hystrix needles. For sewing, they used tendons and vegetable fibers. Later, factory and monofilament yarns became popular.

Moma

Native Americans had lots of different names for moccasins: mäkäsĭn, mockasin, makkusin, mahkusin, lënhàksën, m’kusin, makizinan, niitsitsikin, maskisin, etc. Similar footwear was also produced in the Far East, Arctic, and Northern African nations.

This season, moccasins have appeared on almost all of the most important runways, while we were watching from the comfort of our homes. Are moccasins back because of the recently changed way of life where comfort is at the forefront of fashion? Maybe. Be that as it may, moccasins are a must for both him and her.

Malloni

Vic Matie

This season they’re eclectic. Minimalism is combined with massive accessories (hyperbolized chains, mountaineering loops, laces, and buckles).
It’s very important here to pay attention to the sole. The Premiata sole, which attracted a great deal of customer interest, has also been used for moccasins. Ixos offers a modern interpretation of Native American moccasins. Fru.it features lots of mountain-shoe-like footwear motifs.

A leather-rubber dialogue

A few seasons ago, we discovered “dad shoes” or “ugly sneakers”. This season, RAIN BOOTS are the newest trend!

Vic Matie

Fashion trends are no longer just a silhouette, color, leather texture, detail, or anything else that could be classified as a technical footwear sewing solution. Today, these concepts are replaced by more abstract elements: emotion, mood, social movement, lifestyle.

Odd but stunning. Fashion designers are going all in. The fashion of footwear has changed and is now living in a new era of modern Renaissance. Over-the-knee boots are “borrowing” the rubber details and soles from rain boots. So, once again, the focus is on practicality, which, allow us to point out, is extremely stylish and we have no doubt that customers will just sweep these shoes off the shelves.

One of the brightest examples of this is Vic Matie. Inspired by fishermen, their shoes have taken on new shapes. Even the colors seem to be coming straight from rain puddles: white, grey, black.

Attention! Over-the-knee boots are taking to the streets

Are they pants or shoes? This enigmatic mystery has led to the eyes of many turning to over-the-knee boots - this season’s number one must-haves.

How to choose the most suitable over-the-knee boots? Avoid unnecessary details - allow all of the attention to be directed to the texture of the leather, color, or let the sole and heel become the main accent. A shoe that goes all the way over your knees and is packed with details can make you look a bit bulky. For those who want to wear pants, we recommend skinny jeans, knitted leggings, or flared shorts. Don’t reveal the length of the shoes but rather subtly cover at least one centimeter of them. Also, choose the right size - this is especially important for those with a taller foot. Slip-on sock boots might be a bit narrow, so you might want to check out models with a zipper on the side.

Premiata

These shoes are perfect for parties: combine ridged over-the-knee boots with silk dresses but remember the unwritten rule that you should always dress according to your surroundings.

This season’s DOLITA collection is filled with everything from high-heeled over-the-knee boots to combat boots. There are a lot of elastic fabrics, leather, and eco-leather.

“We can create an eco-leather that’s even better, more sustainable, and more interesting than real leather. It's a matter of time and tremendous work”, said a renowned professor of the chemical industry at an annual conference on chemistry and engineering. Although the footwear industry uses extremely high-quality materials and complies with the very strict requirements of the European Union, eco-leather deserves a separate discussion regarding sustainable fashion.

Vic Matie

Eco-leather is a modern material. The main goal of manufacturers was to combine the main features of genuine leather and textile. During production, polyurethane does not emit any harmful substances, which is why the name "eco-leather" was born. Eco-leather is made following all environmental requirements, without the use of heavy metals or harmful substances. Eco-leather is made from natural fibers, such as flax or cotton, blended with corn, soybeans, and vegetable oils that are layered together. It’s then coated in polyurethane and microfibers.

A puff jacet or footwear?

It’s been over 10 years since massive shoes with fur inside, similar to home slippers, took the fashion world by storm. They’ve been pretty much forgotten ever since but, according to Italian Vogue, they’re now coming back. All you need to know is how to wear them properly and what to match them with.

The editors and stylists of the most popular fashion magazines announce that these types of shoes are returning this year and this time, they’ll reach the closets of even the biggest fashionistas. Even world-class stars are into them. They’re great both for casual wear and winter resorts.

You should pay attention here to the maximum comfort, lightness, and, of course, materiality of these shoes. The main material here is durable technical nylon. Nylon is a revolution in footwear production. It can protect the feet from rain, snow, and wind.

Elena Iachi

FEATURES:

– Nylon is resistant to friction, water, and chemicals;
– The shoes are waterproof and windproof;
– The shoes always remain dry because they’re completely impregnated.

Nylon was first introduced to the public in 1939 at a world-class show in New York. Its advertisement claimed that this new material was made from carbon, air, and water (technically, this wasn’t a lie because it’s actually made from carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen atoms). Nylon was a huge success all around the world.

How to wear these shoes and look stylish:

– Don’t overdo it. Let the shoes be the main accent;
– They go perfectly with narrow pants or a fluffy coat;
– Don’t wear them with comfortable sports clothes;
– Be creative - don't be afraid to combine them with clothes that seem incompatible at first glance, such as fishnet tights;
– They look great with an oversized sweater;
– Try this combo: a classic jacket, bare legs, shorts, and these shoes.

Fur! From sandals to…

This season, fur is dominating not only in over-the-knee boots but also in sandals. Yup! Designers suggest wearing them with trendy socks or shiny tights during early autumn. Also at DOLITA this season - a huge selection of sneakers with fur, classic shapes, ankle boots, and over-the-knee boots.
The so-called era of “no seasonality” in fashion has begun.

The boundaries between autumn and spring are disappearing. The pace of life, travel, and the environment around us dictate the guidelines for footwear production. It’s no longer surprising to see a girl in the streets of Milan or New York in the middle of winter wearing a fur coat and open sandals, which have been replaced today by clogs, slip-ons with open heels, or low-heeled sandals with fur on the inside and outside. The most stylish choice of the season comes from the Hidnander collection.

The best way to overcome the cold is to get the right pair of shoes in advance. Always pay attention to the most important aspects of winter footwear: the sole, the inner materials, the sewing, and the design. Start off the coming winter warmly and in style with DOLITA footwear!

This season, fashion is inspiring optimism and is paying a lot of attention to environmental sustainability, comfort, and materiality. Start looking at fashion differently - don’t just focus on trends but also focus on the individual styles of designers. You’ll notice that the taste of DOLITA has matured with experience, as we choose only the most exclusive models, taking into account stylistics, brand philosophy, quality, and history. Uniqueness has become the greatest value, which is why brands feel the need to create their own individual identities, and we feel the need to bring together a loyal group of customers and let them know about all of the newest trends and brands.

DOLITA, as the official and only representative in Lithuania, guarantees you the authenticity of each model.

We invite you to DOLITA stores in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipeda.
